Re: spiralling upside down cat

Hi I did a 25% water change straight way and will do another tomorrow (i have given a couple of days to settle). Just to let you know that the other four (including 'dodgy fin' - an upside down with a birth defect dorsal fin) are all still okay and flitting happily between their hidding places in th...

Re: spiralling upside down cat

thanks for advice - got home and he'd passed away. He's buried in the garden. I did a water change to be on the safe side but my nitrites and ammonia are good (as in zero to 0.05) and my tank is pretty under stocked at the moment cause they are all babies. Hopefully I won't loose my other upside dow...

spiralling upside down cat

Hi Please help me i think I'm about to loose one of my upside down's (Synodontis nigriventris). He's got good colour and doesn't look unwell (fins etc) but he's sort of swimming in spirals and he's at the front of the tank (they only come to the front of the tank in late evening, normally hiding in ...

Re: catfish for a beginner

Hi Sarah Welcome to planet catfish. There's lots of good advice from the guys on this site. My setup is now 3 months old and I'm really pleased with it. This is largerly due to the advice from here. From your post if I were you I'd get some reference books or look at the all the pictures of catfish ...

Re: Sturisoma aureum fry (Surrey, UK)

Hi Mats I know I was going to wait until October for some of you Sturisoma but I'd really like 5 from this batch if possible. My tank is nearly 3 months old so should be okay for them. Please email me or pm regrading exchange. I will also hopefully be at the SCCRS Open Show at Kempshott Village Hall...

Re: rio 240 200w heater

Hi Thanks for all your advice. I'm going to buy another heater that I double up as a spare and also use to pre-heat my water before a change. Might get the one Mat advised earlier and then use my juwel as the spare. I'll have to measure the temp of our mains water but i recon it's about 5c. The wate...

Re: rio 240 200w heater

Hi Thanks for your replies. However I have a confession. I have had a bit of a problem reading my thermometer. Sorry this is all still very new to me and this forum is always getting me out the poop. I was reading the 'in' temperature as the temperature inside the tank and the 'out' temperatu...

rio 240 200w heater

hi well i picked up my tank yesterday and by midnight the sand, plants, rocks and water were in and the filter and heater were switched on. Everything looks okay - but the heater seems to be stuggling to heat the water. It is working as it's pretty hot but it just seems to be taking a long time to h...

Re: Sturisoma juveniles available (pick-up only, Surrey, UK)

If you don't mind I'll wait for you next lot to hatch are ready for homing - can wait as long as required. Could you put me down for 6 (if you have that many spare) and then I assume i can keep them all in the tank until they get too big - i am wary of over stocking - but by then I may have another ...

Re: Newbee - please help

Thanks Racoll This website has indeed been such a help. I had so little idea on what I really needed when it came to keeping catfish. I know you can always ask staff in aquatics shops but it's so much nicer to get a wider variety of ideas and from people who keep rather than sell. Anyway a really BI...

Re: Sturisoma juveniles available (pick-up only, Surrey, UK)

Mats I'd love a male and 2 female if you got any spare from this hatching otherwise please consider me if you ever get another hatch. Also I won't be ready until September so you may want shot of your extras before then. I'm getting the tank on Friday but I'm not putting any cats in until i'm back f...

Re: Newbee - please help

Thank you sidguppy 'skip the larger Syno's. large synodontis can be nasty and disruptive and also: 2 is a VERY BAD number in the Synodontis Universe, almost always it ends up with a buttkicker and a buttkickee.' Shows I haven't got a clue. I'm taking in as much advice as possible - hence the move aw...

Re: chameleon whiptail

Wow...... I get about a bit due to my job and we have a site at Oxford - in fact I was in Oxford this morning. This is the shop that must advertise on the M40 that I pass. I can come off early and make my way to work up the A44. I go up once a week or so, though work may question why the car has sto...

Re: chameleon whiptail

I'm new to fish keeping but now have my heart set on a tank for 'pseudohemiodon apithanos'. You mention you want to breed these catfish - have you managed to find somewhere that will sell them to you in the first place. They seem pretty rare. if so could you let me know your supplier.

Thanks

Newbee - please help

Hi I'm completely new to Tropical fish keeping and could do with some help please. I have two little people who will be very sad if all the fish die as soon as we put them in the tank. We are planing to buy a Fluval Roma 200 or a Juwel Rio 180 – I haven't found out if one is better than the other – ...
