Re: Blue channel Catfish?
plus channel catfish are punks unless the other fish can be swallowed Jay Really? I've owned two channel catfish, and neither of them were punks, as you so eloquently put it. They were both rather docile (although my second one, Moxie, would chase my RBP whenever he tried cozying up to her). They ...

Worms Are Back AGAIN. HELP!
So, on August 17th, I noticed this on my channel cat, Moxie: http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k174/her_voice_was_gray/Aquarium/DSCF1107.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k174/her_voice_was_gray/Aquarium/DSCF1114.jpg We thought it was just sores from gravel. Septicemia. NOT parasites, as I didn ...

Re: Channel Cat Flashing=Parasites?
It's a 75 gallon freshwater tank, hosting: -(1) 13" channel catfish -(2) 5" senegal bichirs -(1) 6" rhino pleco -(1) 3" lavender gourami -(1) 5" snakeskin gourami -(1) 4" red-bellied pacu It is filtered by a Marineland C-360 Canister Filter, and the tank has been established for quite a long time ...

Re: Channel Cat Flashing=Parasites?
I didn't think to test for it since I've been doing small water changes (about 10 gallons) every few days to make sure the copper wouldn't accumalate....but the ammonia levels are shamefully high. I suppose once I get them back down to zero, and if she stops doing it, i'll be in the clear, right?

Channel Cat Flashing=Parasites?
Hello! So I established that my Channel Catfish, Moxie, has worms. And since I last posted, I've been treating the tank with a combination of Tea Tree Oil (Melafix) and Maracide, and cranked the water temp up to 82F, I've been adding salt, and removed all the gravel and most of the decor. Well ...

Re: Parasites on Channel Cat.
All I get is incorrect password! Oh, my bad. Heh, what I get for being up late at night worrying. It's "He1per" Sorry for the trouble. But I did manage to catch an actual worm, and the smartest fish guy at the store handed me Maracide, and everyone's saying to use it as recommended, and not to ...

Bad-News Update on Channel Cat.
Okay, update after further observation: It is parasites. What, I'm not sure. Some type of worm. The two wounds on her stomach both have definite holes in the center, and it looks like there's a third spot on the way. But I saw them..three off-white stubs about as thick as say..the wire on a spiral ...

Parasites on Channel Cat.
Yeah. I'm back. And always coming here makes me feel like I'm a failure of an owner. But since I've raised her to her current 13" from a mere few inches, I suppose I'm not that bad. Anyway. Somehow, she got parasites. Last night, I noticed a red sore on her belly. This was new, I know, because I ...

Re: Stressed Channel Cat? Not Enough Oxygen?
After vacuuming out another 10 gallons (picking up even more debris, ick!), Moxie is already starting to look better. She's panting still, but not quite so hard. I reckon it's because the outflow..thingy..is completely exposed, allowing the water to fully splash with it's force into the surface ...

Re: Stressed Channel Cat? Not Enough Oxygen?
Heheh, yes, of course. I use Kordon Amquel+, and added a bit of API's Stress Coat, too. I'm not a total newb n.n' But as for the filter media...I followed the instructions =( I changed the pads and rinsed the bioballs in a bowl of the old tank water, and even dipped the sponges in it too. I actually ...

Stressed Channel Cat? Not Enough Oxygen?
So yesterday was time for the big tank cleaning. I did a 50% water change, and cleaned the filter and changed the pads (I have a Marineland C-360) And last night, my channl cat, Moxie, was looking alright. But this morning, she's gasping pretty hard. I even saw her swimming along the surface of the ...

Best Algae Eater?
I'm having a hard time going through all of the plecos to find the best for me, because when searching by size, everything comes up. So I'd like to know, from your experience, what's the best algae-eating pleco suited for a 30 gallon tank? Of course, being readily available is a good thing. Like ...

Re: Channel Cat Health Questions...
=) It's cool. And just thought I'd let you know that after a 50% water change (done by vaccuming the bottom extra thoroughly) that night, her eye was all cleared up by dinner time the day after. It's so weird...I mean, that morning she was fine, and then randomly in the afternoon, it's all cloudly ...

Oh golly, I fail. I'm sorry, I assume everyone knows everything...I don't post in forums much, and tend to forget all the basic need-to-know stuff. I know she's just getting going =P Was just being cute since she's no longer the cute little fingerling she was when I got her. I've got a big pool all ...

Channel Cat Health Questions...
I have a lovely Channel catfish that I've had since..oh...Novemeber...I've raised her (well, idk how to tell sexes, but I decided it seemed like a she, and that Moxie was a most suited name) from about 3 inches, into the mighty 10 inches she is today. A few questions though... -If their growth is ...
