Re: Sick Pimelodus Pictus

Normally the nitrates sit about 20 (just before the water change) so I guess something has changed to cause the sudden jump.

Just had to share that I found a black lancer cat fish at the LFS and just had to have it!! It's about 6cm, looks nice and healthy. Haven't seen one before, does anyone know if they are all that common in Australia? I'm very very excited in any case :D Just had to share, cos my non-fishkeeping frien...

I put it a full dose, and I think I should have put in a 1/2 dose :( I did a 50% water change...

Re: ?Pining Pim Pictus

He seems no different today, behaving normally, still looking skinny. I can give another dose of medicine today so I may do that. I made a huge mistake with my pims in quarantine  I noticed some white spot and so changed 50% water and put in a dose of ich medicine. I accidentally put in the fu...

?Pining Pim Pictus

Hi, I have one Pimelodus Pictus who I have had for about 8-9 months. I have noticed (s)he is becoming skinny with no other symptoms. Eating well, as active as usual. Could (s)he need a Pim Pic mate? Re: Pterygoplichthys scrophus / chocolate pl*co

The bloke at the pet shop just said it was a "hypostomus spp" when I rang back to check the scientific name. It was a young fella that mentioned it was a choclate pleco. I like him chocolate or not, but it would be nice to know exactly what you are buying :)

Pterygoplichthys scrophus / chocolate pleco

Hi, Can anyone tell me, do you think my 5cm chocolate pleco is Pterygoplichthys scrophus. My local fish shop tells me it is a hypostomus, but the little fella has 11 rays on his dorsal fin which seems to indicate Pterygoplichthys. He is mottled brown. He has two ?nasal flutes towards front of head. ...
