Re: Setting up a Zebra (L046) tank

When I had my zebras (5 or 6 years total), I was told that oxygen was more important than current, especially at the higher temps that zebras like (84-86°). There are no plants in their natural habitat, but I kept some anubias with mine and they did not bother the plants. I had mine in a bare bottom...

Re: L400 fry will ship

Here are more pictures of the actual fry. Often they appear to be gold and black, but they are very white and black. And I have dropped the price to $20 per fish. Thanx.

L400 fry will ship

I have a bunch of L400 fry ready to go. They are $25 each, and they are at least 1 1/2" long. The 2 fish pictured are 2" each, and are 2 of the actual fry that I have available. Please message me with questions. Thanx.

Re: How to prepare veggies for plecos?

I feed my veggie eater plecos, green beans, peas, zucchini, etc. and don't do anything to it except the peas which get microwaved and shells taken off. Good luck.

Re: Small Breedable Pleco

Andy, I was recently told by an importer that 306s are, indeed, banned from the states. She stated that the only 306s in the states, and they are few and far between, are all pre ban fish. I had not heard this before yesterday, but I do know in the 6 or 7 years I have been breeding plecos, I have ne...

I believe Rich is the owner at Canada Plecos. He may be a member here, but if not, you can find him on PlecoWorld.org. I am not familiar with L140, sorry

Re: Small Breedable Pleco

You can add L306 to that list. Very attractive, small pleco that is banned in the U.S. Beautiful fish, wish I could find some. Rich at Canada Pleco has them, I believe. Good luck.

Re: Ancistrus fry feeding

I agree with all of the above, and you may want to add some NLS Grow formula to their diet. I feed all my pleco fry this once they are old enough to eat. Good luck.

It would be fine. Check the listing on this site for L104, which is the common clown pleco. I keep mine in a community tank, and they do fine.

Re: clown pleco

I wouldn't be too concerned with PH levels. Most plecos are tolerant and adaptable to a wide range of PH levels. Just FYI.

Re: Albino BN Breeding help

My advice would be to just let them be - they will eventually figure it out. It's only gonna make you crazy checking to see what they are doing all the time. I check all my pleco breeding colony tanks (including red BN), for eggs about every 2 days or so. Good luck.

Re: Please Help sexing L333

I am not gonna attempt to sex them, mainly because I stink at it. But judging from their size in relation to that quarter, I would say that they are too young to breed. I had a group of 333s a couple of years back, and when I sold them, they were all around 5" in length. I never did get them to...

Seems that there are a lot of people looking for males, at least here in the states. I just had 2 inquiries this week, and unfortunately, sold both males that I had that were extra. If 1 falls thru, I will let you know.

Re: l134 + l201 + laser cories

I wouldn't worry about dividing the tank, as long as there are plenty of hiding places. In a 4' tank, you dither fish alternatives are almost endless. I like a school of debawie cats. Mine school very nicely. Good luck.

Should not be a problem. Just make sure there is a cave for each individual pleco. Each male will claim one eventually. Good luck.

Re: 30 inch long tank bit to small for bushynose plecos?

I keep my red ancistrus colony in a 20 gal long (30 1/4" long), and even with caves, rocks, plants and wood, I see them all the time. They are always out and about, looking for food. I keep my tank at 80°, and the reds are the only fish in the tank. Your tank will be fine. Good luck.

Barbie, I used it with good results almost a year ago when my L400s and their fry were dying unexplainably. I believe that I bought it at your recommendation at the time. So, thank you. My L400s are alive and breeding, so they thank you also.

Agree with the above. 411s will like temps in the 80° plus range. I would also have at least 1 cave for each 411 that you have. Good luck.

I use Eheim Aquaball1212 powerheads in all my hypancistrus breeding (and non breeding as well) tanks. Temperatures usually run 80° plus in these tanks. Don't know if the Aquaballs help, but my fish and my plants are healthy (Knock on wood !) Good luck.

Interesting pleco sex ratios ???

Back in the fall, I purchased 2 groups of fry from 2 different sellers. Now that the fish are older, I believe that I have 7 red ancistrus females and 7 - L262 males. Go figure !! Not the sellers fault, the fish were unstable at the age that I got them. Just my luck where if it weren't for bad luck ...
