Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned

Congrats Eric and of all the fish you brought back I like the Hemis and Morrowis the best and have you ever purchased fish for others, kinda of like when you go could you see if they have this or would that be too much of a headache.

Re: Dwarf Chain Loaches Spawning in 125gal.

I don't understand your first question about days - eggs - babies ? You will need to elaborate. Fish development is temperature related. The second question is easier to answer. I keep fish strictly for fun but I used to own aquarium shops and used to breed a lot of fish. I still have several hundr...

Re: Dwarf Chain Loaches Spawning in 125gal.

I've been breeding chain and other loaches (khuli, clown, modesta etc) for a while. I generally use hormones and then let them spawn by themselves but not always. Sometimes artificially hand strip, sometimes purely natural spawns. Hormones allows me to schedule live food production, obtain bigger b...

Re: Dwarf Chain Loaches Spawning in 125gal.

I have kept a group of these loaches for about 20 years. I have never seen any indication they spawn and I am not even sure what I could do to encourage them to. What really surprised me about these fish is how long they live. They compete with my clown loaches for longevity. Any clues to spawning ...

Re: Dwarf Chain Loaches Spawning in 125gal.

Nice. Did you collect the eggs? Have they spawned before? They have spawned before, but I am not able to collect eggs, this spawn took place at the opposite end of tank where the sturio eggs are, and that end of the tank has a sand substrate for the Bahuja so to try and find eggs in the sand would ...

Re: Rio Itaya black Rineloricaria lanceolata spawned

This morning, after I fed the babies from the first two sets of babies, I was rethinking the weird dynamic of the second spawn: The first eggs started hatching on day 12 of incubation, a day later than the first spawn (that in itself is no big deal). However,... By day 17 of incubation, there were ...

Re: Let's try this again Day 1 Sturisomatichthys spawn

Amazing that Sturisomatichthys are such carnivores and not a pure herbivore/algae eater like the old literature suggested. The diet you've fed in conditioning your breeders just proves it further. I agree don't Believe everything you read in the database, and I'll try to get a pic of them eating li...

Can I ask, what do you feed the adults? They seem to be in great shape. Mainly freeze dried, black worm, tubifex, mysis, krill, plankton, brine shrimp, and I reconstitute the food in hot water I don't cook it, just put it in a small container of hot hot water, the freeze dried will float for a whil...
