Banjo Catfish appetite?
Hi I got seven banjo catfishes a week ago. They are living in an aquarium of 70 liters at the moment. The problem is that they are not eating too well. I have given them bloodworms but so far I have noticed only one banjo eating. How can I feed them more effectively and how can I learn them to eat d...

I am planning to have some larger South American catfishes like the Raphael Catfish ( Platydoras costatus ). Would Platydoras costatus get along with the corie...

Re: Diasternum magdalenae or punctatum?
With regard to Finnish: a very difficult language. I have some carbrochures in Finnish and I'm certainly happy there are pictures in them for that's about the only thing I can understand  Right. 8) These fishes are kept by my colleague and they spawned 22nd October. Would you have some good t...

Re: Diasternum magdalenae or punctatum?
I'd go for Hoplosternum punctatum as well, but where on earth did you dig up the name Diasternum? It's mentioned in some very old threads over here, but afaik never made it scientifically as it's not found in any synonym. There are two species of Diasternum in the catalog of fish names named "...

Re: British catfish
I live in Finland and we have Ameiurus nebulosus in my country. It has been introducted in the 1930s and it has been established in southern Finland, but it has been found even in the latitude 64°. So it is a very cold-tolerant species indeed!

Re: Callichtys callicthys, Megalechis picta and black Hoplo
I have a pair of eight year old Megalechis personata . They spawned last time in Autumn 2004. I have added a lid to the tank one month ago. I expected it to inspire them to spawn. However the hoplos are just sitting under the lid. The female seems to be ready to spawn, but the male doesn't build the...

Hi
Thank you for the pictures! How old are the big ones?
Another question: What is the best way to know if a juvenile hoplo is a female/male?

Callichtys callicthys, Megalechis picta and black Hoplo
Hi I am a new member in this forum. I am very interested in the Callichtys callicthys . Do you have this species of armored catfish? Have you seen it on sale in aquarium stores? I live in Finland and it seems almost impossible to get that fish there but maybe some of you are lucky enough to own this...
