I would rather not add any chemicals to the breeder group tank. I can try it in the containers though. I have used methuyl blue with little success in the past. Someone else suggested that the males weren't mature enough. I do have some hatching. These petros are around 3yrs old now. Another questio...

petricola eggs

Okay so the petros finally spawned. Actually they have been spawning for the last 5 days. I have pulled probably 500+ eggs and I think I got one to survive. They fungus up so quickly. Last night when I went to bed at a 11pm there were no eggs in the bowl with marbles. This morning at 4:45am there ar...

My fishroom is in the basement and room stays at 74 degrees and I have the tanks set at 79 degrees. 30 fish tanks and dehumidifier seem to heat the basement alittle.

petricola fry

Okay, I got a batch of eggs to hatch but I lost the fry after a few days. They just started to slowly disappear. I put the eggs in a 15g with 2 box filters and add some methalblue for fungus. No carbon in the box filters.

Any suggestions on how to keep them alive?

thanks

I found another batch of eggs. Probably 100 or so. I put them in a 15g with some methal blue. It looked like the eggs were getting fuzzy but they hatch yesterday. I am planning on feeding them a mixture of meaty foods that have been ground up. I have been using this for my altolampogus calvus fry wi...

I just noticed that I had like 30 eggs in my marble bowl setup. I already made the mistake of putting them in a tubbler. They became peacock food.

Sidguppy I was wondering if you could take a picture of your mesh contraption.

How old are the petros in the bucket?

Thanks

I just added the rest of my petros to the 20g high. I think there is a total of 33 or 34 in there that are between 1.5-3". Lots of activity. I will probably move them to a 30g breeder soon

I think 25 petros in a small tank will be really interesting and hopefully I will get some fry out of them

syno petricola breeding

I don't know what to do. I have like 25 petricola dwarfs that I have had for 1.5-2 years and i got them when they were 1-1.25". I figure they are 2.5 years old if not older and am assuming breeding size now. I put 8 or so in a 20g and I am wondering if they would do better with more or less for...

Hi I live about 20 miles south of Madison. If you are looking to get rid of them I would post them on these forums and sell for $3 or 4 each out right instead of worring about getting ripped off by the lfs. If they are pushing 2" I would sell them for alittle more http://14.freebb.com/?freebb=m...

What size are they?

I generally sell the albinos at 1-1.5" for $3-4 each and less if I sell in quantity. The lfs that I have sold to in the past does the 1/3 cash or 1/2 credit which isn't bad.

Where in Iowa are you located?

That might be the problem. I had my best luck with the 10g with a whisper 60 pushing 300gph. The 75g has a whisper 60 and a sponge filter with a aquaclear 301 powerhead on top. I will have to add a few more box filters or sponge filters to the tank. I will let you know how the next spawn turns out. ...

Congrats on the spawn. So much for not using a 10g for breeding plecos. I know 4 pairs of bristlenose were to much though.

I agree with raising the fry. What a pain. I loose quite a few out of every batch. Maybe even 50%. I have noticed that I get a redish-white sore on the plecos body. I had a episode of this with my breeding group in July. I ended up loosing 4 adults. I ended up treating with maryacn and that cleared ...

I use a little gravel on the bottom of the tank. I have a whisper 60 on the tank and air stone in there for added oxygen. I have since divided the group. I left the largest pairs in the ten. I will report back how that works out for me.

pleco aggression

Does anyone know how aggressive L46, L128, L134 plecos are. I was going to have these guys in the same tank. Will I have to deal with constant fighting or will they get along. There will be enough space and hiding places for them.
